Welcome to the Yorkshire - South Federation

This Federation was formed in 1983 when the county of Yorkshire was divided into smaller Federations.

There are 60 WIs in South Yorkshire ranging in size from 15 to 95 members, meetings are held monthly, some in the afternoon others are evening meetings.
We cover a fairly compact area from Harthill with Woodall on the Nottinghamshire border; Ingbirchworth on the West Yorkshire border; Skyehouse on the Est Yorkshire border; High Levels on the North Lincolnshire border; and Dungworth Storis on the edge of the Peak District.

South Yorkshire headquarters are situated in a beautiful detached cottage close to the centre of Doncaster, the office is open Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday 11am to 3pm. We use the headquarters regularly for meetings, craft courses and workshops.

The Executive Committee is elected by members and supervises all Sub-Committees which are made up from Executive representatives and members drawn from the Federation.

Events organised by the Sub-Committees are advertised in the monthly newsletter, the Federation News 'n' Views which has a circulation of over 1,000 copies. Council meetings are held in the spring and Autumn at different venues around the Federation all WIs send a delegate to these meetings along with any members who choose to attend.

These meetings give members chance to hear and vote on federation affairs and also hear excellent guest speakers.

Details of events organised by the Sub-Committees can be found under the following headings; Membership, Public Affairs, Home Economics and Education, Visual and Performing Arts and Sport and Leisure.
