Here and there, dotted within our county are many historical houses, churches and villages giving our members and visitors plenty of places to visit throughout the year, no matter what the weather! Our county also has many commercial and industrial areas from historical Beverley to the gateway of the M62.
We are very lucky and very proud to own our Federation Office in the beautiful town of Beverley. The office is used for all our various committee meetings as well as being a venue for a number of varied and interesting courses during the year, details of which can be found on our yearly programme web page.
Our office is the lifeline to all our institutes and members. Here we publish a monthly Federation Newsletter, keeping our members informed of events, outings and the Taylors Tea competition, craft courses as well as all the WI National news.
During the year, we hold two events at which every Institute is represented, the Spring and Autumn Council Meetings that are held at the Longcroft School in Beverley. Here our members can come along and meet with their fellow members old and new. Listen to a variety of speakers on many diverse subjects of public interest, who are always very informative and frequently amusing and entertaining. It is an opportunity for our members to meet up in a social atmosphere and enjoy a lunch served by our Catering Committee.
Our fifty-two institutes makes up a total membership of 1400, who concern themselves with the health, safety and well being of their families and local communities and also matters of national importance. We have a very friendly membership and welcome anyone moving into our county, who wishes to be involved in the local community and wants to make new friends.,
Our Federation Secretary is always willing to help you in finding your nearest WI, and to put you in touch with members who would meet and greet you on your first visit. She can also introduce you to one of our Advisers who can help form a new Institute if your village/town does not have one and there is a need. They are a very important part of our organisation and are always ready to help Institutes and members get the best from the WI.
