Dear members,
A few weeks ago I attended the conference ‘You and Your Money’ at Denman College, sponsored by the Financial Services Authority. I found it extremely thought provoking and it made me realise that we should all be aware of the choices and their consequences surrounding family finance.Delegates at the conference will be cascading the information to their federations.Fay in a garden
Now be assured, they won’t be offering detailed advice on where or how to invest your money, or what pension providers you should choose, but they will provide an insight into of issues you need to consider, the questions to ask and where to find reliable expert advice. If your federation arranges an event, do try to go along. I’m sure you’ll find it useful.

You’ll find full reports of the NFWI AGM in this issue. I was very pleased with the venue and enjoyed seeing something of the new Liverpool. I hope everyone enjoyed the speakers as much as I did – a good balance of instruction, inspiration and fun. The debates on the resolutions were thoughtful and reasoned. We will now be planning our campaign to take forward the resolution calling for better management of offenders with severe mental health problems. The 50/50 split on the resolution calling for a ban on certain types of fishing reflects the difficult and delicate balance between preserving our means of making a living and protecting vulnerable eco-systems. A brilliant day.

After the excitement of the AGM, I’m looking forward to our next chance to meet during the week of celebrations for Denman’s Diamond Anniversary starting on 23 September. Everyone at Denman College is excited about all the events and you’re all assured a really great day out.
