What will you learn...next?

Report on the FUN WITH WATERCOLOURS Day Course at Derbyshire House, June 12th, Tutor Mrs Margaret Alton

20 ladies attended the day with Margaret, and the theme for a watercolour painting was "pebbles"

Each painting turned out differently, but all were superb, and a thoroughly enjoyable day was had by all.

Our County Chairman even won a pot of homeade WI jam in the Raffle!!The students were so engrossed in the afternoon session, that they carried on regardless, hardly stopping for a cup of tea!

Creative Crafts is calling all knitters!

Knit a hat for charity. Why the woolly hat? The woolly hat is a basic yet essential item of clothing for seafarers. In addition to the UK, many seafarers come from warm climates such as India, the Philipines and Indonesia and are unaccustomed to the cool weather in the Uk, Northern Europe and the Baltic.

TheSociety distributes over 15,000 woolly hats each year , all knitted by volunteers and they ask you to please make sure that you send your name and address with your hat so that they can thank you and acknowledge its safe arrival. The Society can send you a pattern if you wish: call 0238051 5950 or go to woollyhats@biss.org.uk

Crafts Sub-Committee will make a display of these at the DERBY COUNCIL MEETING on Tuesday 7th October.

Enjoy your knitting!

 Celebration Services

Only hours before the January Service in Derby Cathedral our County Chairman could be heard on Radio Derby talking to Nicholas Henshaw about the Federation. The service was attended by more than 600 members and was an inspiring event. We had members ringing the bells, stewarding and even giving the Address! What a talented lot! Many messages of thanks and congratulations have been sent to our County Chairman, Judy Stanhope.

The second Service of Thanksgiving will be held on 14 September 2008 in St. John's the Baptist Church Tideswell at 3pm . It will be a repeat of the service held in the cathedral.
